Alec FAQs

What spec am I approved for and what inlay in my spec do I choose?

Please look at your retailer’s RFID playbook to determine your department’s spec. You may choose any inlay within your spec. Please find a list of approved inlays for your spec here: Specs

What is the best tagging location for my product?

The performance of the RFID inlays could be affected by metals, foils, liquids, and glass. Special consideration must be taken when choosing tagging format and location for such products. Do not place RFID tags on the bottom of your product packaging. Recommended area of packaging to tag in is the side of the packaging near the top. Please see our tagging guideline for further understanding: Tagging Guidelines . If you are still unsure where to tag your product please fill out an item question here: Question Form

You can expect to receive feedback on your submission forms and/or product test forms within 10 business days. Question forms will be responded to within2 business days. Please do not send repeated emails or make multiple chains on the same topic.

RFID packaging providers implement the RFID inlay into your packaging. This can be in the form of a hang-tag, adhesive, or embedded into your current packaging. Please see more about RFID packaging providers here: RFID Packaging Providers

What items can be grouped together into one submission?

Products with the same supplier, brand, packaging type, packaging provider, inlay model, and tagging location can be grouped together into one submission.

Where does my EPC logo need to be?

What is the difference between the ALEC submission form and the product test form?

The ALEC submission form is what you need to fill out to start the process of receiving approval to tag your products with RFID. The product test form is for suppliers who have items that need physical testing to determine the best tagging location. This form should only be used if requested by the RFID Lab.

Do I need to fill out a product test form?

The product test form is for suppliers who have items that need physical testing to determine the best tagging location. This form should only be used if requested by the RFID Lab. If you believe you need a product test, please fill out a question form here: Question Form
