The Auburn University RFID Lab hosted its Retail Supplier Workshop in April 2026, and the session recordings are now available online. The video series is designed to help retail suppliers understand the role of Radio Frequency Identification within the retail supply chain, covering topics ranging from foundational principles to practical industry applications.
The workshop consists of six presentations led by members of the RFID Lab team, including a featured session from retail industry leader Walmart. Justin Patton opens the series with an introduction to the Lab, RFID-enabled inventory management systems, and the technology’s evolving role in retail supply chain operations.
Subsequent sessions explore source tagging from a retailer perspective, RFID implementation playbooks and tagging requirements, supplier compliance initiatives, supplier use cases, and developments in RFID-integrated packaging.
Matthew Russell and Kelso Jacobson discuss supplier compliance programs offered through the Lab, including ALEC, audit procedures, and Request for Solution (RFS) processes designed to address ongoing packaging challenges through collaborative problem-solving. Bob Hoheisal, Senior Manager at Walmart, also contributes to the series, highlighting the importance of source tagging from the perspective of a major retailer.
Whether organizations are newly adopting RFID or seeking to strengthen existing processes, the Retail Supplier Workshop video series serves as a valuable and accessible educational resource. The videos are available here.
